A Foodie Stroll at Marché d’Aligre
Bonjour, market lovers! Ava and Theo here, still savoring our morning at Marché d’Aligre in Paris’s 12th arrondissement. This vibrant market, blending open-air stalls and a covered hall, is a feast for the senses. From fresh cheeses to vintage finds, here’s why this Parisian gem stole our hearts.
Arriving at the Market
We wandered into the Bastille neighborhood on a crisp morning, the market’s energy hitting us instantly. Stalls overflowed with colorful produce, fragrant herbs, and wheels of cheese. Locals haggled with vendors, while the air buzzed with French chatter. We grabbed reusable bags, ready to dive into this foodie paradise.
Exploring the Stalls
The fresh food section was a highlight. We sampled creamy Camembert and tangy goat cheese, chatting with a cheesemonger who shared pairing tips. Theo snagged a crusty baguette, still warm from the oven, while Ava picked out ripe figs and cherries. The fishmonger’s display, with glistening oysters, tempted us, but we saved those for dinner.
The flea market section was a treasure trove. We found vintage postcards and a quirky teapot for our collection. Bargaining with a vendor over a scarf was half the fun—Ava’s French got a workout! The covered Beauvau Market added more delights, with charcuterie stalls offering slivers of saucisson sec that melted in our mouths.
Foodie Moments
For lunch, we settled at a nearby café, assembling a picnic from our haul: baguette, cheese, and a jar of duck rillettes. Paired with an espresso, it was Parisian perfection. Later, we sipped rosé at a market bar, watching the world go by. The market’s lively chaos felt like the heart of Paris.
Why We Loved It
- Foodie Heaven: The fresh produce and cheeses were divine.
- Vibrant Vibe: The market’s energy was contagious.
- Treasure Hunting: The flea market finds were a thrill.
